iPhone 5 How to insert SIM card
This guide will show you how to insert your SIM card into your new iPhone 5. Apple iPhone 5 uses a nano sim so your conventional SIM card cannot be used. But don’t worry a trip to your local service provider should immediately replace your SIM card with a nano which can be later converted back if you need to .
To insert a SIM in iPhone 5, follow the steps below:
1. Take any paper clip and bend it straight. Or you can use the SIM pin given in the iPhone 5 packaging .
2. Check the sides of your iPhone 5 to locate the SIM tray as shown below:
3. Next Insert the pin into the small hole and push it gently until the tray pops-out. Now take out the Sim card tray with your fingers.
4. Place your Nano SIM card into the SIM tray. Make sure it fits perfectly and the golden side of the SIM is facing down.
5. Push the tray back into slot in the same manner you ejected it out. You’ll hear a click upon successfully placing the tray in its place.
6. Wait for iPhone to recognize the SIM card. Your Done

This is my first Iphone and I have been looking forward to get it. The Quickstart guide starts assuming a sim is inserted. Only after reading your blog did I realise what that funny looking tool is for (Sim tool) and did I notice an illustration on the opposite page of the instruction packaging presumably showing one to insert a Sim. Your blog has been a great, clear and concise instruction to fit a Sim to an Iphone 5. Thanks very much.

The limited iPhone instructions didn’t tell me how to insert the SIM and the link that Vodafone pushed me to had nothing on the iPhone 5, so as a total newbie to iPhones I was glad to find this.

You have to remove the old card before you insert the new? Yes?
What if there is no card in there. My card is not there.
if its brand new there is will be no card in there all you have to do is insert it

The first time i used your instructions, i did not drew lines across tape (securing SIM card to the template) and I had a hard time cutting it to the correct size. On my second SIM card, I followed your instructions and used a surgical scissors. Works flawlessly! Thanks a million
